BEST DREAM CAR
Lamborghini Revuelto
Until very recently, the idea of Lamborghini’s top-billing V12 being a ‘dream car’ would have raised eyebrows among the supercar-weary cynics. They would have a point, too. The old Aventador was dashing and sounded outrageous, but it also represented a good deal of inconvenience for not a vast degree of dynamic reward. Describing the car as style over substance would be unjust, but the almost wilful lack of mechanical subtlety and the sense that you were merely managing the show rather than revelling in it meant half an hour behind the wheel was enough. The equivalent Ferrari always had more layers and more intrigue. The Revuelto marks a shift in tone for Sant’Agata – and not simply because, with the help of electrification, it’s the first series-production Lamborghini to develop more than 1000bhp. Gone is the Aventador’s automated-manual gearbox, replaced by a compact, cutting-edge dual-clutch automatic transmission.
