Carping for Kodak success
There’s loads to talk about this month, so let’s kick off with our Carping for Kodak weekend at Sandhurst, and what a great weekend it was. After a few hiccups with the bidders we finally found ourselves at the event. Micky Gray, Lee Jackson, Nick Helleur, Dave Levy, John Elmer, Pete the Painter, Ben Hamilton, Nigel Sharp, Jerry Hammond, Darrell Peck, Dave Benton and I all teamed with our allocated bidders for a weekend of fun, frolics and of course, fishing. We will have a full write up of the event in next month’s Big Carp courtesy of John Elmer, but I can tell you that some superb fish were caught, with several over 30lb, topped by the main man Mark ‘Kodak’ Dean who landed a nice common at just under 37lb. It couldn’t have worked out better. The beer flowed, the food was never ending and the laughs and wind-ups came thick and fast, so don’t miss next month’s issue for all the pictures and the story.
The next two editions of the Legends series are now underway. Ritchie McDonald will be the third book in the series, and readers will be in for a real treat. There will be loads of fantastic, never before published shots of Ritchie from the early days on Longfield, Redmire, Savay, Crayfish and Yateley to name only a few of the venues this man dominated in the 1970’s and 80’s, plus Ritchie’s own diaries, awesome accounts of his sessions never ever published before – definitely not to be missed, and very, very funny.
