HOW TO STAY SAFE
Don’t go it alone.
The safest way to experience cross-country swimming is in company – especially if you’re new to it. Join an existing group, look for a tour guide or use social media to find like-minded hikers and swimmers in your area.
Get permission.
If your walking route runs through National Parks, private land or protected areas, you may need to contact the landowner for permission. And if you’re swimming in open water, there might be a coastguard to notify. It’s wise to check before you set off.
