Light-filled terrace extension
This house benefits from a striking new addition that makes the most of a strong connection with the garden

This Victorian mid-terrace house has undergone a modern transformation thanks to a new rear extension designed by Amos Goldreich Architecture. Located in the Stroud Green Conservation Area of Haringey, North London, a key priority for the owners was for the addition to work with and enhance the outside space. “One of the biggest challenges was that we were potentially taking away some of the garden, which I hav nurtured and grown over 27 years,” says homeowner George. “As the concept of the design and build progressed, we got really excited about the internal garden.” This winter garden is a glazed sunroom positioned between the living room at the front of the house and the new open-plan kitchen-diner at the back. “This not only offers an unexpected oasis in the heart of the home, but connects the old and new parts of the house,” says architect Amos Goldreich. “The project was about reconnecting our clients to the home they had lived in for 28 years and making it suitable for the 28 years to come.”
