esigned for a family who love outdoor pursuits, this new house certainly feels at one with nature thanks to its linear profile and natural material palette. The homeowners’ brief was for a building with understated luxury that had a focus on the green surroundings. The design team at Strom Architects have met this exactly. The rectangular building is clad externally in black-stained larch and oiled oak. The dark hue helps to blend the structure into its background, whilst the timber texture complements the adjacent trees. The property projects serenely out of the landscape on stilts – this addresses the flood risk of the waterside location, but also aids the home’s wow-factor.
