This terrace property in east London has been completely transformed to suit the requirements of the owner, who’s a professional chef. They wanted the layout to feel like a contemporary home, as well as provide room to hold popup dinner events. Yellow Cloud Studio, headed by architects Eleni Soussoni and Romanos Tsomos were given a brief for a large kitchen area with a generous zone for people to socialise; they created a scheme that set out a sequence of interconnected spaces, which are all focussed on enhancing the dining experience. “The design altered the entire lower ground floor of the property, with the kitchen as the main focal point,” says Eleni. “There is a large skylight over the kitchen, directly sitting above the area where the chef will prepare the food. The scheme uses materials to annotate the space, with a minimal palette; marble, ply, cement – but all are highly crafted.”
