Muscat-based Oman Air is launching new services from Muscat to Manila and Jakarta from December. Twice-weekly links to the Filipino capital begin on December 2, increasing to thrice-weekly 11 days later. Meanwhile, the Omani national carrier plans to introduce three flights per week to the Indonesian capital starting on December 12 with a fourth rotation from January 2. All services will be flown by Oman Air’s fleet of Airbus A330-200s/-300s.
Qatar Airways is increasing flights on its popular Doha-Dubai routes with additional daily services, rising to 14-flights-per-day to Dubai International Airport and four-per-day to Dubai World Central Al Maktoum International. Apart from operating to the two main Dubai gateways, Qatar Airways also serves Sharjah thrice daily and Abu Dhabi six times a day and is the only airline that flies to the four airports within the United Arab Emirates.
British Airways’ South African franchisee, Comair, has signed two sales agreements with Qantas for two Boeing 737-300s for delivery during 2015. The total purchase price for the two jets, payment for which will be made in cash, is R44 million ($4 million). The Johannesburg-based airline is also scheduled to take delivery of four 737-800s from Boeing in late 2015 and 2016 and has eight 737-8 MAX jets on order for delivery from 2019 through to 2021.
