AMERICAN AIRLINES (AA) has outlined plans to transfer up to 47 Bombardier CRJ700 regional jets from subsidiary Envoy Air to sister carrier PSA Airlines as a labour dispute with the former continues to escalate (see Airliner World, October 2014).
The Dallas/Fort Worth-based regional carrier – previously known as American Eagle Airlines – has already missed out on the opportunity to operate AA’s newly delivered Embraer 175s, which were instead placed with affiliate Compass Airlines after Envoy pilots rejected a revised labour contract.
Envoy's CEO Pedro Fabregas told employees: “While it is too early to determine the exact impact that this change will have on Envoy and our people, we know that we will need to adjust staffing. For most groups, we believe that normal attrition will address much of these staffing changes. In some cases, there may be displacements from one location to another.”
