Aviation Specials  |  World War II: Volume 1
On September 1, 1939, Hitler’s forces swept into Poland, precipitating the most cataclysmic conflict in human history. Three days later Britain declared war on Germany. It was at sea that many of the early clashes took place, while on land the Phoney War lasted until the spring of 1940, ending when Hitler launched the Blitzkrieg in the West. The evacuation from Dunkirk was followed by the Battle of Britain, which in turn developed into the devastating Blitz on towns and cities across the country. World War Two Outbreak 1939/40 explores the dramatic events of the first 16 months of the global conflict.
