8 NEW PC tasks you must learn in...
Enhance your computing this year by expanding your digital skills. Robert Irvine suggests the best tricks to master – and the free tools to use
1 Create videos using AI
Most AI tools can now generate images from text prompts, and in 2025 they’ll let you create original videos, too. OpenAI has just launched Sora for ChatGPT subscribers (www.snipca. com/53202), which can generate videos up to 20-seconds long, based on content you describe (see screenshot below).
A ChatGPT Plus plan lets you create 50 videos at 480p resolution or fewer videos at 720p each month, while a Pro subscription increases the quality to 1080p. You can also ask Sora to ‘remix’ and remove elements from existing videos.
Sora isn’t currently available in the UK, but we expect it to be later in the year – including to free ChatGPT users. In the meantime, you can use other AI tools to generate videos. Popular freemium options include Canva’s AI video generator (www.snipca.com/53204) and Invideo AI (www.snipca.com/53203).

DistroSea lets you test-drive dozens of Linux distros in your web browser
2 Master a Linux distro
Microsoft is ending support for Windows 10 in October, so now is a good time to try a Linux distro. Many are easier to master than Linux’s reputation suggests, and it could spare you reluctantly upgrading to Windows 11.
