There can be nothing quite so satisfying as putting the last piece of the jigsaw in place and standing back to admire the view. All summer the walk into the offi ce has required me to negotiate scaffolding and skips that are as much a part of the Lewes summer townscape as hanging baskets and pavement cafés. Now that the buildings are exposed and my route is free from obstruction I’m doing the unthinkable and walking on the other side of the road to enjoy the view that is, more to the point, the result of someone else’s hard work.
