Clockwise from this image: Light and warmth were the driving factors in the functional kitchen’s design. Two new dormer windows brighten the room, while the original flagstone floor was fitted with underfloor heating. A full-height pantry, painted in Mylands’ Borough Market Green, was built around an existing stained-glass window. Jonathan Tibbs crafted the cabinetry, designed by Patrick Williams of Berdoulat; Alex found the copper turbot fish pan in a barn and had it converted into a sink with a pot-filler tap; a reclaimed pantry sink from Frome Reclamation was raised on two plinths made by Artorius Faber; a quiet corner in the kitchen next to a discovered fireplace; the lattice door is listed as a game larder door, and now leads into a laundry room
