Wood-burners not only provide heat and light – they also add character and cosiness to a room, making it more inviting and comforting. ‘Although used mostly in the winter, a woodburning stove is a timeless piece that makes a statement feature throughout the year,’ says Jon Butterworth, director at Arada Stoves.
There are a number of factors to consider before selecting and installing a wood-burner. ‘While aesthetics are important, it is essential to assess the size of the stove, its heat output, and the technology of the stove model,’ says Phil Wood at Contura. ‘Also look out for a stove that features a clean-burn system – meaning it burns for longer and more efficiently, resulting in a combustion with very low particle concentrations.’
