Sunset Dreaming
For some rail enthusiasts based in South-East Queensland it has become a bugbear that the variety of locomotive classes offered by both the narrow gauge and standard gauge systems has over time diminished significantly. Alan Shaw, who has a solid reputation amongst his peers as a talented photographer, had long mentioned he would very much like to spend a few days in the NSW north-west based in Narrabri to observe and capture that locomotive variety that was being yearned, and he asked Alan Graham if he would like to join him. This article – plus a lot of good photos – was the result.

Lakelands station opening
Perth Metronet’s newest station was officially opened on a cold, squally, Sunday 11 June. On the Mandurah line, 6.5km north of Mandurah and 64.5km south of Perth, Lakelands serves a large and growing suburban area of the City of Mandurah. David Whiteford was there to join the well-organised festivities.

Sydney Station Stories - Cowan
In the fourth instalment of his Sydney Station Stories series, Chris Walters takes a look at Cowan. Though it lost its role as the northern terminus of Sydney’s suburban system 31 years ago, it retains its status within the NSW railway industry as the station at the summit of the notorious Cowan Bank.

Northern Tablelands Reconnaissance with 621/721 and Denning Coaches
Neville Pollard takes us along for the ride on the entertaining ‘ARHS 2023 June King’s Birthday Long Weekend New England Region Explorer Tour’.
