Traction  |  Nov-Dec 2021
This issue has detailed look at Irish Rail in the 1990s when the railways of the Republic of Ireland were a Mecca for enthusiasts wanting to experience locomotive haulage. We conclude the study of the UKF fertiliser trains and have details of the wagons used on these trains. There is a feature looking at the workings of Class 25s in the Aylesbury area in the 1980s. A driver from Saltley depot, describes his experiences driving freight trains from the Birmingham area to Crewe and his night time photography in Crewe diesel depot. Our two photo features are set in the Peak District and at Finsbury Park depot. We look at the paint schemes applied to locomotives at Eastfield depot in the final years before it closed. In TRACTION MODELLING there is a description of the 4mm scale Perry Barr layout complete with its scratch built catenary.
