It’s generally the hallmark of a successful enterprise that it rarely rests on its laurels and we’ve seen a few changes this month at Kelsey Media, the company which brings you Classic Car Mart every month. All of them good I should point out and most relevant to us here being the acquisition of fellow classic car title Classics Monthly which tackles more of the practical side of old car ownership rather than the buying and selling which we major on here. With the title comes Matt George, the new face pictured below who joins CCM as Managing Editor and gets my vote already by virtue of owning a ’68 Beetle. What you can’t see in the photo is the Morris Minor driver’s seat he’s perched precariously on for the photograph, a legacy of a part-finished restoration project for the magazine which we now need to piece back together. If you’ve ever completely stripped down a car to a bare shell then you’ll know what a daunting prospect it can be to get it all back together and having got stuck in already, I can confirm that it’s even harder when somebody else has done the taking apart. Luckily, I’ve got sufficiently involved in Morris Minor features over the past few months to recognise where the bits go, while the knowledge gained during teenage years messing about with a Minorowning mate has finally come in useful. Except of course that this particular Minor is a Traveller and with the replacement rear woodwork yet to be fitted, we need to work out how to transport the freshly painted roof panel the 50 miles from bodyshop to workshop without any means of fixing it to the rest of the car...
