Amplifier
Hologram ROCKOSMOS
Prog rockers cut to the chase.
Like a good Scotch whisky, Amplifier have been maturing for almost 20 years. Now, on album number seven, they’ve distilled themselves to their essence: huge guitarscapes, brilliant drumming and clever lyrics – recorded as a two-piece. Hologram’s sleeve-notes credit Sel Balamir with “vocals/guitar/ production” – modestly drawing no attention to his ear-catching bass lines – while a simple “drums” alongside Matt Brobin’s name seems to be a glaring understatement. Because even reduced, Amplifier sound as colossal as ever.
