Trespass
Wolf At The Door FROM THE VAULTS
NWOBHM veterans return with one foot in more windswept territory.
Despite making ripples within the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal when they formed in 1979, Mark Sutcliffe’s young Suffolk-based quartet were perhaps a touch too young to achieve their potential. But since reuniting as older, wiser headbangers in 2014, they’ve been showing us what might have been. This second album since the re-formation shows ambitions towards a more epic sound, evident in the portentous pomp rock of Unsinkable and Back To The Woods. But they’re best when rekindling an old-school hard rock sound: the muscular riffs of Ghost Pilot and Crooked Cross, the air-punching anthemic intent of Daggers Drawn and the Wishbone Ash-style twin-guitar motifs of Other Worlds are where Trespass really make a home invasion. ■■■■■■■□□□
