Record the previous 30 seconds in games
Game Bar in Windows lets you record videos of games as you play them (though you can use it to record anything you do on your computer). One of its smartest features is to record the previous moments of a game. You can activate this when you’ve done something memorable and want to capture it as a video.
First, press Windows key+I to open Settings, then click Gaming. Turn on the Game Bar slider at the top of the page. Next, click Captures on the left (or in the centre in Windows 11), then turn on ‘Record in the background while I’m playing a game’ ( 1 in our screenshot below). Now set how long you want to record for (from 15 seconds to 10 minutes) 2 . This means Game Bar is always recording in the background, but you’ll only save the amount of time you set when you press the Windows+Alt+G keyboard shortcut. The clip will be saved in your Videos, Captures folder.
