Q How do I get Google Calendar to enter events automatically on, say, the third Thursday of the month? My U3A (University of the Third Age) group organises events this way, and at the moment I have to enter the dates manually, which is a pain and leads to mistakes. If it’s not possible, is there an alternative tool I can use? My colleagues use Apple devices, and they would also like a solution.

A You won’t need any alternative tools because you can achieve what you want quite easily in Google Calender. First, click the Create button followed by Event. Set the event’s date and time as usual, then look under the schedule and click where it says ‘Does not repeat’ (see screenshot 1 ). Next, click to open the dropdown menu that appears, then choose when you want the event to recur, such as ‘Monthly on the third Thursday’
Click this option In Google Calendar to set up a recurring event
Tweak any other options you need to include in the Event box, then click Save.
