By default, Task Manager updates its readings every second, making it hard to get a snapshot of how much data specific software and processes are using. Pausing these updates is simple, however – simply press the CTRL key.
In Windows 10 you can also pause them by clicking View at the top, then Update Speed followed by Paused. These options also let you set the update speed to High (every half a second) and Low (four seconds). In Windows 11, you’ll find these options by clicking Settings at the bottom left, then clicking the ‘Real time update speed’ dropdown menu (see screenshot).
