A launch price of £700 for a Chromebook is a big ask for many in today’s economic climate. ChromeOS has come a long way since its launch in 2011, but that price tag places this particular Lenovo model firmly in the firing line of a number of decent Windows laptops, and that’s a big hurdle to overcome.

Google built ChromeOS around the idea of providing a budget alternative to more expensive Windows laptops and PCs. This was achieved by using cheaper ARM components that had lower memory and storage requirements.
