Extract text in OnlyOffice using OCR
OnlyOffice has an OCR (optical character recognition) plug-in for extracting text from photos, images and screenshots and putting it into documents. It’s part of OnlyOffice by default, so you don’t need to install it through the Plugin Manager.
Open a document then click Plugins at the top. Now click the OCR icon that appears in the plugins toolbar ( 1 in our screenshot), followed by Load File 2 . Navigate to the photo, image or screenshot you want to extract text from, then double-click it. It will now appear in the OCR box. Click ‘Recognize’ 3 and the extracted text will appear on the right. Finally, click Insert Text 4 and the text will appear in your document, ready for you to edit. The plugin isn’t perfect, with some erratic formatting. But it’s still a quick and effective way in OnlyOffice to extract text.
