Soundware round-up
The Unfinished Colossus IV £72
This add-on library for Spectrasonics’ monumental Omnisphere 2 might just be the most expensive synth preset pack we’ve ever come across, but when you consider that it comprises a whopping 400 sounds, the pricing makes sense. The stylistic direction is epic and cinematic - inspired, they say, by the soundtracking likes of Harry Gregson-Williams and John Powell - and Colossus IV’s basses, guitars, keys, pads, textures, etc, strike a well-judged balance of musicality and grand scale. As you’d expect, every preset includes a text description and mod wheel assignment, too. Stunning.

Singomakers Rezone Bassline Mega Pack £35
Singomakers owner and renowned producer in his own right, Rezone, delivers a knockout soundware library for cutting-edge bass music, in 44.1kHz and 96 kHz versions. 60 bangin’ drum loops and accompanying tops get things off to a flying start, and the four construction kits are awesome; but the main event is the 101 high-impact bass and synth loops, all made using Xfer Records’ Serum synth, and all the source patches and MIDI files are included, so Serum owners can develop them further. Superb sounds, endless adaptability and great value. loopmasters.com
