CrossStitcher subscriber Kay Ixer can stitch for hours a day – a habit that came in very useful in helping her get to her weight loss target this year
Based in Acle, Norfolk, Kay has carved out a fulfilling routine that blends her love for crafting with her passion for community. Since February 2025, she has been a member of the Knitting Natty Club at the local library, where she spends her Wednesdays enjoying crafting with fellow enthusiasts. “I actually do knitting, crochet, and my cross stitch projects while there, as well as chat and enjoy coffee,” she explains.
Cross stitch remains her favourite out of her three needlecrafts, “I only do knitting when someone is expecting a baby and I also crochet blankets for my friends and old colleagues – I like cross stitching best.” For Kay, cross stitching has been more than just a hobby; it has been a constant in her life for the past 20 years. Her first project, a framed anniversary cross stitch sampler, was the moment that she found herself hooked, despite it being aimed at more intermediate stitchers than beginners. It was the satisfaction of creating something tangible that got her interested.
