“With my rather heavy soil at the Rectory, I find lavender difficult to grow! At our last house, the garden was filled with lavender. This year, with the hotter summer weather, I have at last had some success with a couple of new plants under the morning room window, and I now have small bundles of lavender hanging from the rafters in the stable, drying. When my lavender is completely dry, I will remove the buds and put them in simple bags made from scraps of linen, to be cross stitched and given as Christmas gifts. In the meantime, I will crack on with the stitching and enjoy the wonderful perfume and soothing effects of fresh lavender while I stitch!”
