Mallaig, in a remote spot on the west coast of the Scottish Highlands, is at the end of the ‘road to the isles’, where excited travellers board the ferry to the Isle of Skye. It’s a peaceful place where you can take seal-watching tours – but it’s also a working fishing village and home to a product that’s won a host of Great Taste awards over the years. The best moment? Winning the Supreme Champion award for Jaffy’s oak-smoked Mallaig kippers, voted the greatest product of 2021.
