Make magical movies using time-lapse
Master time-lapse on your camera to produce a fun movie to share online, or grab a still from your sequence. Roddy Llewellyn shows you how
Time-lapse videos are becoming more and more common over social media, so how do you make your own? Time-lapse features are built into many modern cameras but are underused by photographers. Compared with video, time-lapse enables you to easily compress hours of action into a few seconds.
Here we’ll look at how to set up your camera to produce a timelapse movie. We will be doing two projects: one making the entire video in-camera, which produces instant movies; and one that captures stills from which you can produce your own time-lapse video in Photoshop, giving you much more control over the result and letting you save out stills.

Tips for producing your time-lapse efficiently
Check the weather
Depending on your time-lapse subject, you might be taking shots for a couple of hours, or even overnight. So if you are shooting outside, it is worth checking the weather for the whole period you expect to be out. Unless the weather is part of your time-lapse theme, you ideally want a consistent spell of dry conditions, so check your weather app.
