I thought I was just codependent...
How my relationships masked OCD
I’m a former codependent. The kind of person who desperately needed to be with their partner at all times or else (screams into the void) how would I dare to EXIST? The worst part is that I thought I was just codependent, but there was a much larger issue here. My unchecked OCD.
BY SOPHIE SANTOS
My first codependent relationship was with my mother, Susan. When my mother would shower, as I couldn’t bear to be alone for more than five seconds, I would barge in unannounced, rip off all my clothes, stretch out my arms, and scream, “NAKED PEOPLE!!” And tackle her… wet… soapy… body. This was my first codependent relationship – nonsexual, even though there was a fair amount of nudity.
