There’s a stereotype that goes along with being a Black, lesbian, masculine-presenting woman, but Two Twos – or as some might say, Nana Duncan and Rose Frimpong – quell that narrative quickly with their laughter and smiles. As the esteemed podcasting duo pop into my Zoom room, it’s instant queer Black joy – so very contagious.
It’s a rice-and-peas kind of conversation, a comfort to the soul. “As much as we are LGBTQI, as much as we are Black, as much as we are women, I want people to know that we are many other things as well, like I’m a mother, and I just want people to know that our sexuality is not our whole being,” Ro shares, beaming. I’m beaming too.
