Dolls House World Magazine Issue 377 Back Issue

English
37 Reviews   •  English   •   Hobbies & Crafts (Scale Modelling)
They say Christmas isn’t just a day, it’s a state of mind. Well we’re here this issue to get you into the festive state, whether you want to come up with a stocking full of projects or just decorate your house in a simple style.
And I’d suggest starting early on the mini makes, otherwise you’re likely to be as frantic as Santa’s elves on December 24. Sue and I once renovated a house as a present for the children. The last coat of paint went on around midnight on Christmas Eve, and it was still sticky the next morning.
We’ve got a sackful of projects for you to make, from a cute little elf to a basket of gifts to put under the tree. And we show you how to transform simple wreaths and trees into statement pieces. Plus there is a sparkling array of wonderful houses and room boxes to give you ideas and inspiration.
Like the one on the cover that Linda Wooten made, inspired by her childhood, when “we were blessed to be able to spend them with my amazing grandma, who had always made our Christmases magical.”
Tee Tatum wanted to combine her love of minis with her passion for the festive season. She decided a Christmas market was the perfect meeting point, and now can’t stop making them — she’s up to 13 and still going strong.
Miniatures rescued the Christmas season for author Erica James. She bought an undecorated house on eBay, which arrived just before lockdown. Facing a Christmas on her own wasn’t a problem with mini plans to keep her busy.
Of course making Christmas scenes is time-consuming and it’s frustrating having to put them away as January looms. Jo Lockyer came up with the answer after a visit to an all-year round Christmas shop in Somerset. She would put together a similar store in twelfth scale and keep it out permanently. Now that’s a Christmas state of mind.
