Power fantasies have always been a natural fit for videogames, whether it’s standing out among the UNSC marine corps as Master Chief, swinging through Manhattan as Spider-Man, or literally playing god. In Hype this month we explore one of the more comically raucous progenies of the tradition – Kingmakers’ medieval ‘what if’ scenario lets you bring a machine gun to a sword fight, and various modern artillery besides (although, with whole armies to battle, you won’t have it all your own way).
