The winners of the Madeira Colour Your Life competition took the competition brief to heart
■ The Madeira Colour Your Life competition at the Fashion and Embroidery Show in March, at the NEC, Birmingham, attracted stunning entries.The competition prompt said:‘Life is colourful in many ways. If taken literally, we see countless shades, a never-ending colour palette... However, colour can be much deeper than that. ‘Colour can affect our moods.To say one has a colourful life means living life to the full, experiencing emotions, struggles and blessings. Without colour, the world would simply be dull and lifeless.’ The winner of the Visitors’ Choice Award, sponsored by Embroidery magazine, was Kate White. She says:‘My piece Iridescence followed a virtual workshop, over the Covid lockdown, with Nikki Parmenter to learn her plastic entrapment textile art technique.
