“IT’S STILL KIND of shocking to me that David’s not with us,” says Kyle MacLachlan. He’s talking about his good friend, and close collaborator, David Lynch, who has just shown up in one of the photos Empire has chosen for MacLachlan’s Time Capsule. Lynch’s impact on MacLachlan’s career is immense — the actor’s first two movies, Dune and Blue Velvet, were for Lynch, and then there was Twin Peaks, in which MacLachlan played the eccentric hero, Agent Dale Cooper. “I have so many memories, and to me he’s just very present and alive still, in my mind and in my memories.” With the BFI mounting a major Lynch retrospective season in London in January, and Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me joining the Criterion Collection’s UK canon, it’s the perfect time to take MacLachlan down memory lane…
