GREAT Northern Railway (Ireland) Q Class 4-4-0 No. 131 returned to Dublin on April 1 for the first time in preservation.
In a milestone operation for its owner the Railway Preservation Society of Ireland, the loco left its base at Whitehead and ran light engine to Dundalk using an Iarnród Éireann (IÉ) steam crew conducted by a Northern Ireland Railways driver, as NIR has no steam drivers since the sudden passing of Noel Playfair in March.
