THE PB DIET
Researchers have found that switching to a Mediterranean diet can help you achieve a running PB within days. They asked people to run 5km on a treadmill on two different occasions, separated by 9-16 days. First, they ran after four days eating a Mediterranean diet (whole fruits and vegetables, nuts, olive oil and whole grains), then they repeated the test after four days on a typical Western diet (less fruit and vegetables, a higher intake of saturated fats, dairy and refined vegetable oils). After four days of eating like a Mediterranean, people ran six per cent faster. Light up your Strava by becoming a well (olive) oiled running machine.
