A former Fort William care home worker who lost his job affer being accused of assaulting a young person at a residential home has been found not guilty of the charge. James Annette, 61, of Kennedy Road, appeared at Fort William SherifiCourt on Wednesday February 27 affer being charged with assault by pushing a young man and seizing hold of him by the wrists on October 3, 2017.
Annette, a former assistant manager at Fort William FC, was sacked from his job at the care home for gross misconduct as a result of the allegations, while his registration as a social worker had been suspended, pending the outcome of this case. However, SherifiEilidh MacDonald cleared him of the charge. ffe complainer, who cannot be named for legal reasons, told the court Annette had pushed him to the ground and, as he got up, had pushed him a second time, into a door.
