The second phase of an essential road safety project along the A87 near Invergarry was scheduled to start on Monday of this week and will see the completion of the £230,000 improvements.
The first phase of works saw 1km of carriageway resurfaced in February and teams are now turning to the second phase, which will see almost 900m of new roadside safety barrier installed. This second phase will take approximately two weeks to complete. The works are weather dependent, and all relevant stakeholders will be updated on any significant changes or delays to the programme.
To ensure the safety of road workers and motorists, there will be temporary traffic lights in place at all times throughout the upgrade. Although works are only planned during the daytime, it is essential to keep traffic signals in place overnight for safety as traffic will be passing open excavations. Consultation has been carried out with all relevant stakeholders to inform them of the works in advance.
