Lochaber athletes braved the wet conditions on Saturday for the annual figure of eight race in the winter league series.
Although the 10-mile race was an alternative route due to ongoing forestry works, it turned out to be a ideal day for the runners. Less so for the hardy marshalls out on the course or the timekeepers at the start and finish who had their work cut out to keep up with the course changes.
Th irty-two runners took part with Lochaber Athletic Club’s (LAC) John Yells the athlete first home with a time of 1:13:28. He was followed in second place by Liam Hutson in 1:15:20 and then in third was Javier Cabrera Va of Highland Hill Runners in a time of 1:16:12. As for the ladies, Lisette Walter of LAC finished first in a time of 1:30:50, Marie Meldrum, LAC, came second in 1:32:37, followed by Lochaber’s Isla MacKay in third place in 1:37:31.
