By no means has 2021 started well for the organizers of the Offenbach Kart Fair but not even for the world of karting in general. In fact, at the beginning of the year, Botho Wagner passed away at the age of 85; together with his wife Alice, they had set up the German exhibition near Frankfurt am Main since 1993. However, the direct involvement with the renowned kart fair (which we recall had been postponed from the end of January to this next 17-18 July due to Covid) is only the last step in a life dedicated to karting and its development. Botho Wagner was, in fact, a pioneer in Germany, having already participated in the first German kart race in Wiesbaden, back in 1960. He was also present in various international commissions and also editor of the Karting magazine until the 1980s, a key player and protagonist in various forms in promoting this sport, thus representing a leading figure in karting not only in Germany. Vroom’s editorial team joins in commemorating Botho and expresses its condolences of his family.
