Know Your Oil
We caught up with the gurus at Liqui-Moly to find out more about oil; how it works and how to make the most of it. Here’s what they had to tell us…

FB: How often should you be checking your engine oil?
LM: We recommend checking your oil at least every 1,000km (620 miles) – you’re always better to be safe than sorry. It’s a quick and easy thing to do, so why wouldn’t you? If you’re not sure what you’re checking, take a look in an owner’s manual or speak to an expert mechanic for guidance.
FB: How does heat effect oil within the engine?
LM: Heat can quickly break down motor oil, creating a deposit on the intake valve. This can impede airflow to the engine and contribute to poor sealing of the combustion chamber – this in turn can lead to problems with idling, misfires, reduced power and poor fuel economy. Let’s face it, no one wants that!
