A cats’ welfare charity is hoping to attract volunteers for two branches which cover Fort William, Ardnamurchan and Mull. The local Cats Protection branches want to hear from people who can help with fostering cats, fundraising, data management and serving on the committees. ‘I’d encourage any people who love cats and who would like to help the charity to contact us to find out more about helping cats in the area,’ said Lona Johnson, area branch development manager for the Highlands and Islands. ‘Volunteering for Cats Protection is a rewarding experience because it gives you the opportunity to be part of a worthwhile cause. Volunteers gain a lot of satisfaction from giving unwanted cats a second chance in life, as well as working with like-minded people, so if this sounds of interest, please contact us.’ The Fort William and Ardnamurchan and Mull branches are part of Cats Protection’s network of 250 volunteer-run branches and 34 centres that help around 190,000 cats and kittens each year.
‘The Ardnamurchan and Mull branch works hard to find new homes for cats in need, but the task is challenging because for every cat that finds a home, there are many more waiting to come in,’ said Sheila Paterson, branch co-ordinator.
‘We are a new but very enthusiastic branch,’ added Paul Rigby, branch co-ordinator for Fort William, ‘and we need more volunteers.’ Call 03000 121212 or email bsusne@cats.org.uk
