Kilmartin Primary School pupils enjoyed an outdoor adventure week with help from fish farm company Dawnfresh. Primary 6 and 7 pupils set themselves the challenge of raising funds to go on a trip to the Benmore Centre near Dunoon where youngsters moving up to secondary schools meet future classmates and take part in a variety of activities. Camron MacPhail wrote to Dawnfresh, where his dad Greig works as a seawater production manager, asking for a donation towards the trip. Farming director Alison Hutchins read the letter and called back to offer £500. ‘I received a lovely letter from Camron and his classmates explaining why the trip was important to him and the rest of the P6 and P7 class. I was struck by the entrepreneurial spirit of the pupils and how they had already raised funds through various events,’ she said. With Dawnfresh’s help, the pupils reached their £2,000 target. During their stay at Benmore, team-building activities included caving, gorge walking and high ropes. The end of their stay was marked with a disco.
