Your freezer is your best friend when it comes to putting together budget-friendly, plant-based nutritious meals, says HFG expert and dietitian Juliette Kellow

FREEZING FOOD, one of the oldest preservation methods, is the easiest and cheapest way to enjoy a wide range of fruit and vegetables, especially at times of the year when our favourites aren’t in season. But this isn’t the only way our freezers can help us to enjoy a more plantbased diet. You’ll find frozen ingredients like meat-free mince and Quorn products, as well as a stack of ready-prepared vegetarian and vegan options that include ready meals, ‘burgers’, ‘sausages’ and pies.

It’s good to hear, then, that according to a recent survey, six out of 10 Brits believe the quality of frozen food is on a par with fresh. It’s also potentially a bonus for our health, too.
