Wow – sex education has come a long way since I was at school. I’ve just been to an induction where parents were able to view the information their children will see and discuss over the coming year. We watched three videos – currently on the Year Four/Five/Six (eight-to-11-year-olds) curriculum – which covers everything from personal hygiene and puberty to how a baby is made, and ends with a graphic (and beautiful) birth. It wasn’t like that in my day (God, I sound old!). I learnt everything from schoolmates, in the form of half-truths and scare stories. I am heartened by how far we’ve come in the British education system. By the time my son and his classmates leave junior school aged 11 and 12 they will be reliably informed, rather than scared of the unknown. Obviously, there will be plenty of questions for mum and dad, but I welcome that. I believe that, where health is concerned, knowledge really is power. Jane

Health and wellbeing comprehensive articles and features Reviewed 25 February 2021

A mature magazine with comprehensive advice

I really enjoy the content of Healthy, as it covers a wide range of health issues comprehensively, and inspires me to live a healthier life. Being an avid cook, I love the healthy recipes, which are always innovative and give me great vegan and vegetarian options to try. The celeb interviews are done with style and energy, and I'm always left inspired to take on their advice. Living a hectic life, it's hard to always be as healthy as I'd like to, but Healthy mag gives me the tools I need to feel as good as I can. Always feel positive after reading. Love this mag and will continue to subscribe. Reviewed 06 July 2017

Vapid fluff but worth it for the vouchers

This magazine doesn't have a lot of content. It can be interesting to flick through, but there isn't really much substance. However, if you're buying anything in Holland & Barrett, it can work out much cheaper to buy this first to use the vouchers inside. Reviewed 03 June 2017
