‘Learning that running doesn’t have to hurt was a major revelation - one I owe to this hugely practical book and the friend who recommended it to me. Using principles of tai chi, Dreyer aims to teach you how to run more efficiently, reducing impact on joints and muscles. If you can master the technique, your speed and endurance will naturally improve as a consequence, but there’s no intimidating pressure to achieve these as ends in themselves. The subtitle - “A Revolutionary Approach to Effortless, Injury-Free Running” - is perhaps an overstatement. I still don’t find running “effortless”, but this book helped me believe that running a marathon was something I could actually achieve - and did!’
