Easy ways to eat less sugar

Sugar Awareness Week (18- 24 January) is a good time to think about cutting down. Current government guidelines recommend no more than 30g of free sugars per day – that means sugar added to food and drinks, or found naturally in honey, fruit juices and smoothies. To cut back, stick to 150ml fruit juice a day, gradually reduce the amount of sugar in tea and coffee, and swap sugary cereals for porridge. And when you’re craving a snack, reach for the fruit bowl instead of the biscuit tin. Head to our refinedsugar- free recipes on page 88 for some healthy baking inspiration.
