The Prince of Wales has revealed the thought of his grandchildren’s future encourages him to keep fighting to protect the environment. Taking part in an episode of Simon Armitage’s BBC Radio 4 show The Poet Laureate Has Gone to His Shed, he said: “I don’t want to be confronted by my grandchildren and other people’s grandchildren, saying: ‘Why didn’t you do something when you could?’”
Prince Charles also reflected on his childhood with the Princess Royal, with whom he shared a vegetable patch. He told Simon: “There’s nothing to beat, is there, eating what you have grown? This is another reason why I always feel it is so important to find ways of encouraging children to grow vegetables and things at school.”
