When former England cricket captain Sir Andrew Strauss’s wife Ruth was diagnosed in 2018 with stage 4 lung cancer at the age of 45, the couple faced the difficult task of telling their sons Sam and Luca, then aged ten and 13.
Even harder must have been telling them of their mother’s death at the end of that year.
