Sandy’s original sketch (above) for Gwyneth Paltrow’s character in Shakespeare in Love shows the “heightened” colour palette she was aiming for – and achieved, with the finished piece (left) glowing as Gwyneth dances with Joseph Fiennes
This was one of the friendliest films I’ve worked on. There were a lot of costumes, but I didn’t feel massively stressed and that’s probably because [the atmosphere] came from the top, director John Madden.
